Ok, we are in the heat of summer here in California and I wanted to join in the Create with Connie & Mary Color Challenge #CCMC412    BUT I wanted my card to be mystical and fun. So, here’s my Mystical Llama Celebratory Card!  I’m calling it mystical because llama’s are not soft pink and a cactus is not a watermelon red color, these colors work for me and make me happy. The Color Challenge was Watermelon Wonder, Blushing Bride and Pool Party.  WELL, Lo and Behold there’s another challenge this might fit in to perfectly because it’s made with Designer Series Paper…yes, the Affectionately Yours DSP. There it is, front and center!  I’m talking about the Stampin Up Only Challenge #151 – Favorite New Papers. I’m so lucky that I love this DSP.  The other side is spectacular but this side worked perfectly with my Mystical Llama card. What do you think?

Stampin’ UP! has five embossing powders and while I LOVE them all, I needed color for this project. SO, on this project I used the Clear Embossing Powder….can you find it? Nothing looks clear. Well, it’s used on the Llama…yep! I patted my cute Llama stamp in Versamark, then on to the Blushing Bride Classic Stampin’ Pad and quickly covered it with Clear Embossing Powder and used my Heat Tool to emboss.  VOILA! (that’s french and I’m from Canada originally so completely bilingual…ok, not quite but I know a few words 😉  I embossed with my Heat Tool and now I have a Blushing Bride Embossed Llama! Isn’t she the cutest?  Of course she’s also covered with Wink of Stella, why? Because I love it and I want a little sparkle everywhere. Hard to see in the photo but trust me, she’s lovely and she does sparkle.

I then moved on to the Cactus Stamp and followed the same procedure, inked the stamp in Versamark, this time in Watermelon Wonder and quickly covered with the clear embossing powder. Toasted this a little bit with my Heat Tool and I have a mystical cactus. I did the same with the Fiesta Like There’s No Mañana.

Of course what would a Blushing Bride Llama be doing on a card without grass? My Mystical Llama has freshly mowed Pool Party grass to stand on and it is made with the Fringe Scissors. The banners are simple to  make, cut them out with my Big Shot, stamped a little bit on them in Watermelon Wonder and Pool Party, added little Rhinestones to one of them. The base of the card is Thick Whisper White, next layer is Blushing Bride and finally a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP in Watermelon Wonder. I snipped the ends of the banners with the Banner Triple Punch – great tool no matter what size banner, you can adapt it for the wee ones too! I used SNAIL Adhesive to put down the layers, then the first banner I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue, second banner is popped up with Dimensionals. On my luscious grass, there’s a bit of SNAIL on the bottom, Llama popped up with Dimensionals as is the FIESTA banner and the mystical cactus has a little bit of SNAIL to hold it in place.

Like my card? Please leave me a comment, I love to hear from you. Also, if you don’t have a Demonstrator, pick me! You can go HERE to shop and here’s a list of the products I used.
