I’m so excited…my card received a Top 3 Pick with Create with Connie and Mary challenge CCMC379. Thank you so much!!! I LOVE all of the projects, stamps and accessories in the Holiday Catalog “Handmade for the Holidays” and lucky for everyone it’s order able until January 4, 2016!
One of my favorite stamp sets is the Snow Place Photopolymer Stamps and coordinating framelits. For this card, I used the Snow Place Stamp set, antlers are from the Wonderland clear stamps, the new Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and the Brick Wall Embossing folder. The circles and frames were cut using the Big Shot and the Circles Collection Framelits.
How adorable are these penguin wearing antlers and peeking out from a round porthole window? Maybe it’s the window in their igloo which is pictured on the card. Of course, for these penguins, there’s no snow place like home!
How did I make this card? The card is cut at 8.5 x 5.5 scored and folded in half. The Whisper White mat is 5.25 x 4. Run the Whisper White mat through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder. For the LARGE Circle–using your Big Shot, position a large circle that will act as your shaker window. Then cut the same size large circle of a Window Sheet. Cut a square of Whisper White to cover the back of the large circle. Adhere the Window sheet to the back of the Whisper White circle with Tombo. Using Real Red card Stock, take three sizes of circle framelits, put the next size smaller inside one of the framelits to make a real red frame, make sure the space is the same all around the circle. Run your circles through the big shot and you’ve got the red frames. Using Basic Black Archival Ink, stamp the penguins on Whisper White card stock and add the antlers in Chocolate Chip. With the Big Shot, cut the Whisper White circles with your framelits to match the outer larger circles. You will do this for the two smaller circles with penguins This will create the red frames. Do not use the inner smaller frames to Die cut the penguins, use the larger outer frames. Also die cut four (4) black bow ties. Do not glue yet!
The last penguin will go behind the window sheet to create the shaker card, this penguin should be cut into a square to cover the back of the large circle securely. Using dimensional leftovers, I made a circle on the back of the large frame. I put “snow” inside the window frame. I used what was left over from the shaker cards kit but you could use the Dazzling diamonds Stampin’ Glitter–makes perfect snow. Adhere a Real Red Pom Pom Trim to the nose on the large window penguin. Once you get the snow inside the window frame, remove the adhesive from the dimensional strip and position the penguin over the dimensional strip. Put Real Red Pom Pom Trim noses on the other penguins. Fold the die cut bow ties in half to create the penguin paws reaching out from the windows and adhere with glue dots, be careful when adhering the red frames to keep the paws outside of the frame. Position the red frames over the circles and glue on with Tombo.
Stamp the sentiment “there’s snow place like home” on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Versamark, sprinkle Black Embossing Powder over it and emboss. Run this piece through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder and punch out a 2″ circle punch, trim the circle in half and you have an igloo.
Adhere the Real Red frame to the large shaker circle, then to the other two circles. Using Tombo, adhere the medium circle to the card. Overlap and adhere the last and smallst circle to the card using dimensionals. Adhere the igloo to the card with dimensionals. Scatter a few rhinestones throughout the sky. Adhere the Whisper White panel to the Real Red card base with Dimensionals.
Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 5.25 x 4 for the inside, stamp a sentiment and your card is ready.
