I can, I can do a Clean and Simple Card and this one is for Pals Paper Arts click this linky to see PPA308 by Ann Schach to get to their page and see what the fabulous Designers have come up with for this sketch. Of course, please go there after you’ve had a GOOD LOOK at my version 😉
Love my teddy bears! This card is super simple and followed Ann’s lines. It took great strength on my part to refrain from adding lots of embellishments and sparkles; well, I maybe added two little rhinestones on the card, but I really did try to be simple this time.
I chose Crumb Cake Cardstock for my card base, Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper for the first mat, Crumb Cake for the second mat. I’ll stop here and explain myself. I rounded all the corners…ok most of the corners because I couldn’t round on the fold. I tried that once and it was awful. For the smaller Crumb Cake Cardstock layer, I cut at 3-1/2″ x 3″ and I embossed it with Floral Affection. I did this by twisting and turning to get the embossing exactly where I wanted. I put the Standard Cutting Pads just in certain spots to get the look I was going for and then I used the debossed side facing up on the card. I thought this embossing folder went perfect with this Designer Series Paper Pattern–guess that’s why it’s featured on the same page duh! I rounded the corners, used a Sponge Dauber and Night of Navy Classic Ink to go over the edges.
CAP’s Tips – I keep separate Standard Cutting Pads labeled with Embossing Only so that I don’t get any of the little cuts on my beautiful cardstock from my cutting pads. Makes perfect sense right?
Back to the card…I used Night of Navy Cardstock, a scalloped oval from my favorite Layering Ovals Framelits to make the base of the oval, Crumb Cake next and then Whisper White for the top. I embossed the sentiment, how did I emboss in Night of Navy you ask? Well, I used my Embossing Buddy on the Whisper White Cardstock, I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and quickly on the Night of Navy Stampin’ Ink Pad from Suite Sayings. I sprinkled it quickly with Clear Embossing Powder and used the Heat Tool to emboss. I love this look, it’s difficult to see in a photo but trust me it’s lovely. I then stamped the little flower from Love & Affection on the top and bottom. Here’s my BIG embellishment, a little Rhinestone in the center of the flowers…whew! Got a sparkle on there! I went over the edge with a Sponge Dauber and Night of Navy Classic Ink.
Putting in all together – Used Fast Fuse to adhere the Affectionately Yours DSP to the card. It is a fabulous adhesive once you get the snap right. Ask me about that one?! I fiddled around with the Crumb Cake layer until I got it just right and then adhered it with Fast Fuse. I cut a little piece of the beautiful and elegant 5/8″ Organza Ribbon, slipped a bit of Fast Fuse on that and put it on the card. Be mindful of where you are putting the adhesive on the ribbon so you don’t go to the end of the left edge. I positioned the scalloped Night of Navy Oval on the Crumb Cake layer, adhered it with Fast Fuse and did the same for the Crumb Cake Oval, then popped up the sentiment oval with Dimentionals.
CAP’s Tips – Make sure that you use enough Dimentionals on your projects. They are inexpensive and really make a statement on your cards…pop things up…dimentionals. Perfect! Remember to have one in the center so it doesn’t fall like a cake sometimes does 😉
That’s all for now…Hope you like this card. Please click HERE to head to my SHOP and if you have any questions, drop me a line.
Beautiful color combination. It really pairs nicely with the embossing. Very lovely. Thanks for playing along with us this week at PPA.
Great challenge, thank you and see you again soon.
Sweet card! I love all the Crumb Cake with the navy. You’re right, Stampin’ Dimensionals do make a difference. Thanks so much for joining us at the Pals Paper Arts this week.
Thanks Dawn, see you next challenge!
